New Leash of Life TV Series Poster

New Leash on Life

New Leash on Life, ABC TV & ABC ivew, 6 x 30 format created by and executive produced by Nia Pericles, produced by Artemis Media, developed and produced with the support of Screenwest.

Mental ill-health and loneliness are on the rise for Australians and so are the number of dogs in pounds. Unwanted dogs are given just 8 days to be rescued before being euthanised.

Host Joel Creasey has an innovative solution: a mutual rescue.

Studies show owning a dog improves physical and mental health but thousands are neglected or euthanised every year. Joel joins forces with leading dog behaviourist Laura V as they race against the clock to rescue dogs on death row, transform them and pair them with Australians in need.

Shortlisted for a Walkley Award for Best Documentary 2019.

Storm in a Teacup' is an intimate portrait of Western Australian Artist Leon Pericles as he embarks on his biggest challenge yet - a full retrospective exhibition of a lifetime of artworks at a time when he has the least support. Leon is one of Australia’s most renowned printmakers and painters. His wife Moira has played a huge part in his success as his creative counsel and manager. That is until now.

Told through the eyes of his daughter Nia, the film explores the role reversal of Leon and his wife Moira who has always been his rock but now has Alzheimer's. As Leon prepares for the exhibition of a lifetime, he must do so alone, juggling his roles of artist, husband and carer to Moira.

As sad as this film may be at times, it is incredibly life affirming and so well directed. Storm in a Teacup is a beautiful film.
